What You Need to Do:

  1. Register a company directly with ASIC
    Visit ASIC Connect to register your company online. The ASIC fee is $597 for a proprietary limited company.
  2. Register an ABN
    Apply for an ABN free of charge through the Australian Business Register. You'll receive your ABN immediately if your application is successful.
  3. Consider professional help
    An accountant or business advisor can help you with company registration and ensure everything is set up correctly from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions

ASIC charges the following fees:
  • $597 - Proprietary limited company
  • $597 - Public company limited by shares
  • $462 - Public company limited by guarantee
These are government fees payable directly to ASIC.
Online registration through ASIC Connect typically takes:
  • 15-20 minutes to complete the application
  • Immediate ACN allocation upon successful submission
  • Certificate of Registration available immediately for download
You'll need:
  • Proposed company name (or use ACN as name)
  • Registered office address
  • Principal place of business address
  • Director and secretary details (full name, address, date of birth)
  • Shareholder details and share structure
  • Company officeholder consents
